–the story must be 53 words—no more, no less—titles are not included in the word count. Stories not meeting this rule will be disqualified. Only stories; poetry with line breaks will not be considered. Hyphenated words count as one word. Yikes!)


“Buzzy’s!”

“Buzzy’s?”

“Yeah, steak, cheese, peppers, and onion. Toast the roll. And a GIQ of ‘gansett.”

“You know …”

“I know. Get it after the bars close. That’s the best shift.”

Smitty left and smirked at the guard who buzzed him out. “He ordered what he had the night he killed the cop.”
